10-75 and a second alarm within minutes of arrival

Box 3318 was transmitted for a fire at 15 East 148th Street in the Fordham neighborhood of the Bronx. Buffs familiar with the box location will recall that this is near the old quarters of Engine Company 75, Ladder Company 33 and the Battalion 19 chief. According to Deputy Chief Ron Werner, companies made a push inside knocking down fire on the first and second floors, but were forced to withdraw due to the amount of fire on the third floor and the structure’s decreasing stability. Six firefighters and one civilian reportedly suffered minor injuries.
